Shahram Nazeri to perform in Vienna tomorrow

TEHRAN, Jan. 8 (MNA)– Iran’s outstanding vocalist Shahram Nazeri is to give a concert in Vienna tomorrow accompanied by the Irani traditional band.

The concert will comprise pieces composed by the band’s leader, Pejman Taheri.

 

The musicians will include Pejman Taheri (santur), Ardavan Taheri (setar and rebab), Reza Abaii (Gheichak), Siavash Purfazli (tar), Behruz Rezaii (tar) and Rashid Kakavand (tonbak).

 

Born in Iran’s western city of Kermanshah, Shahram Nazeri’s musical talent was first discovered by his father, and later nurtured by celebrated masters of Persian music including Abdollah Davami, Nur-Ali Borumand and Mahmud Karimi.

 

Nazeri’s debut album was “The Hundred-Petal Flower” (“Gol-e Sad Barg”) and since then he has released over 40 recordings.

 

He was dubbed “Iran’s Pavarotti” by the Christian Science Monitor in 2007.

 

In recognition of the work Nazeri has carried out on the musical vocalization of the lyrics of the Iranian poet Molana Jalal ad-Din Rumi, the French government presented him with the Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur medal during a ceremony in Paris on September 29.
